Fall at Ludlow’s
As the weather cools and the leaves turn from bright summer green to brilliant reds, golds, and oranges, Lake Vermillion becomes one of the most beautiful places in northern Minnesota to experience the fall season in spectacular fashion.
Along with fantastic fall foliage, amazing sunsets, and stunning scenery, there are endless activities to enjoy at Ludlow’s throughout the fall season.
Fall Fishing
Stocked with walleye, crappies, muskies, and northern pike, Lake Vermillion is a popular destination for expert fishers and novices alike. And with quieter lake activity during the fall months, you’ll feel like you’re fishing on your own private lake.
Our resident fishing expert Michael will tell you fall is one of the best times for fishing northern pike and September and October are great for reeling in walleye. We’ll help you get geared up at the resort’s tackle shop with all the live bait and tackle you need for a fantastic time on the lake.
Michael is here for any advice and fishing tips along with gear demos to get you started. You can also choose to take a guided fishing trip where we’ll take you to all the best fishing spots.
Fall is one of the best times to take advantage of our popular fishing package that includes both lodging and a boat and motor.
Stunning Colors
Peak fall colors start mid-September lasting through early October on Lake Vermillion, providing guests with fantastic views and a picturesque backdrop to enjoy their fall getaway.
Staying in our north shore cabins, you’ll be treated to spectacular views, surrounded by the vibrant reds and yellows of maples and birch trees, and even the tamaracks' dark green needles transform to a rich gold. Spend a relaxing evening soaking in the fall colors from your cozy north shore cabin or grab your walking sticks and head out on our rustic hiking trail that showcases the beauty of Lake Vermillion in fall.
Slow Down in Our Finnish Sauna
Partake in one of our favorite traditions and let go of all your stress in our Finnish sauna. Inspired by the area’s large Finnish population, our sauna is set between 175 and 210 degrees with low humidity, making it a ‘dry’ sauna.
A wonderful way to unwind after a full day of hiking or boating.
Fireside Romance
Fall is the perfect time to reconnect with your partner with chillier weather and a beautiful tranquil setting, you can get cozy by the fire and enjoy a fall romantic getaway.
Plus, you can also join us for our Autumn Guest Chef Dinner. During the fall season, we invite chefs to create inspired dishes for our guests. Perfect for couples, the evening starts with a champagne reception and hors d’oeuvres along with a cooking demonstration, before moving to the dining room for dinner and drinks.
Boating on Lake Vermillion
