Aurora Borealis
As cabins have been built through the decades at Ludlows, a single idea has often been the inspiration for a new cabin.
For Northern Lights, the design goal was to have screened porches and decks off both the bedrooms and the living room.
Three bedrooms and two baths, with a great stone fireplace.

Cabin History
Northern Lights was built by Mark and Sally Ludlow in 1984. They have always been concerned about not crowding the island with too many buildings and maintaining privacy between cabins.
In order to maintain some distance between cabins the challenge was to build a three bedroom cabin with a small footprint. Other goals were to have a screened porch off the main living area and the bedrooms. Furthermore, it was hoped to have a deck off the living area and the master bedroom.
Mark enlisted the help of a long time friend he met in college, Dale Mulfinger. Dale is the founder of SALA architects and at this time was gaining interest in cabin design. He helped Mark and Sally achieve their design ideas with a 24' x 24' footprint on the ground.
